WHAT IS A BLOG AND HOW DO I MAKE ONE?

A blog is anything you want it to be!  It's a written collection of thoughts and muses on things in general, things specifically, etc.

It is easy to create a blog, let's get you started!

1. Under the My Blog section, click on Make a New Post

2. The New Blog Post screen should appear

3. You will see there is a blank for Title

4. Enter the name of your entry here (for instance, if you wanted to talk about your trip to California, you would entitle it My Trip to California, or something similar)

5. Then, you can enter your Content (your story)

6. Once you have entered all you want to enter, look for the Post It button on the right hand side of the Title

7. Click that Post It button once and that's it, you have posted your first blog, congrats!

WANT TO ADD MORE STUFF, BRING IT ALIVE A BIT?

1. Continue with your original blog, or make a new one, repeating the steps above

2. You can make a new blog, edit or delete an existing blog at any time. PLEASE NOTE:  once you delete a blog, IT'S GONE!

3. When you are in the area where you can write your blog, you will notice a tool bar with several options, very similar to what you would see in a Microsoft Word (or comparable) program; this is what we will use to create interest to your blog

5. There are lots of great effects and extras you can add to make your post more interesting, with the tool bar like:

INSERT AN IMAGE

1. Find the icon in the toolbar that looks like this:  
2. Open a new browser window, staying logged into your Section 101 Room, particularly the Blog you are building, account on a separate one
3. Find an image on a website you like
4. If you can open the image so it stand alone on a web page, you can simply copy the web address from the web address toolbar
5. If there are multiple images on a page, find the one you like
6. Right click on the image
7. A menu will appear
8. Choose 'Copy Image Location'
9. This will save the URL that identifies that picture exactly
10. Go back to the window that has your Section 101 Room open
11. In the Content toolbar area of your Blog, find the icon that looks like this and click it:
12. In the General Settings (only use the advanced and appearance settings if you are an advanced user), paste the link you copied in to the following field:

14. You can also fill in additional details about your photo, like a description, on that same page

POST VIDEO

1. Open a new browser window
2. Go to YouTube and searched videos (you can go to any number of the video sites on the web)
3. Find the video you want, look for the area of the site that says 'Embed' (its usually to the right of or directly under the video clip itself)
4. Highlight and copy the field next to 'Embed'
5. Go back to the browser window that contains your Blog
6. Write the information you want that discussed the video you are posting (if you want, you don't have to!)
7. Paste the 'Embed! copy onto the page
8. A box will appear and it will contain your blog once it is posted

CHANGE THE FONT COLOR

1. Find the icon that looks like this and click it:
2. Highlight the text you want to change the color of
3. A menu of colors will appear
4. Choose the one you like
5. The text will now be that color

CHANGE THE FONT SIZE

1. Find the icon that looks like this and click it:
2. Highlight the text you want to increase in size
3. Choose the size font you would like
4. The text will now be that size

CHANGE THE FONT TYPE

1. Find the icon that looks like this and click it
2. 
3. Highlight the text for which you would like to change the font
4. Choose the font you would like
5. The text will now appear in that font

INSERT EMOTIO-CONS (OR SMILIES)

1. Find the icon that looks like this and click it:
2. Make sure you are at a point in your content that you would like to enter an Emotio-con or Smiley
3. The Emotio-con will now appear in your blog

INSERT TIME STAMP

1. Find the icon that looks like this and click it:
2. You can id for your readers the exact time you are posting
3. Make sure that you are at a place in your content / blog that you wish to insert the time
4. The time at that exact minute will be inserted into the blog content
